Silver has been the moon's metal in Western practice for as long as the correspondences have been written down, and unlike most of these pairings there is an obvious physical reason: polished silver is the most reflective metal there is, returning over ninety five percent of visible light. It gives back what falls on it, which is exactly what the moon does.
The crescent rather than the full moon is a deliberate choice too. The full moon is three nights out of thirty. The crescent is the ordinary condition, which makes it the better thing to wear every day.
How to Wear It
- Sterling tarnishes. That is silver reacting with sulfur in the air, and a soft cloth fixes it.
- Layers well with a longer chain and a stone pendant.
- A good first piece for someone building a moon practice.
