How to choose a crystal (without overthinking it)

Start with what you're working on, not with a chart. If you want something to carry, reach for a tumbled stone: smooth, small, and made to live in a pocket. If you want a stone that holds a space, like a desk, a nightstand or the corner of a reading table, look at raw pieces, towers and spheres. Want a little personality on your altar? That's what the crystal carvings are for: frogs, ravens, moons and skulls cut from amethyst, obsidian and quartz.

Not sure which stone? Shop by what you need instead. Protection and warding pulls together black tourmaline, obsidian and smoky quartz, and the other intention collections do the same for love, money, rest and focus. And if one stone keeps catching your eye, that counts as an answer.

Every piece is natural, so size, color and markings vary from the photos. That's not a flaw. That's how you know it came out of the ground and not out of a mold.
