Description
Moldavite gets sold as a meteorite and it is not one. It is a tektite, which is terrestrial rock that was melted and thrown by an impact rather than rock that arrived from space. Around 14.7 million years ago something struck what is now the Nördlinger Ries in Germany, and molten sediment was flung roughly four hundred kilometres east, cooling as it fell over Bohemia and Moravia. Everything anyone has ever found is in that one strewn field.
The green is glass, the bubbles inside are trapped gas, and the wrinkled surface is not how it landed. That texture is acid etching from millions of years in Czech soil, which is one of the things a gemologist looks at to tell a real piece from bottle glass.
Which is the reason to buy a certified one. The pits are largely worked out, the price has followed, and the fakes are very good now. This is the smaller size, which is how a genuine piece stays affordable.

- Wear it during a stretch when something needs to move rather than when things are settled.
