Description
Schorl is the black, iron rich member of the tourmaline family and the most common tourmaline on earth by a wide margin. It grows in striated prisms with a rounded triangular cross section, and it is one of a small number of minerals that build an electrical charge when heated or squeezed. Tourmaline sat in laboratory drawers for that property long before it sat on jewelry counters.
At 6mm you can feel the beads, and that matters more than it sounds with a stone worked for boundaries. The practice is mostly about remembering where yours are, and a wrist that keeps registering the weight keeps getting reminded.
Empaths and energy workers tend to keep tourmaline in permanent rotation rather than pulling it out for occasions. It gets worked for absorbing what is in a room, for holding a line in a hard conversation, and for the walk back to the car afterward.
How to Wear It
- Wear it on the arm you keep between yourself and the room.
- Rinse under running water and dry in sun when the day has been heavy.
- Take it off at night if you want the day to end when the day ends.
Wear It With
If you want the same stone in something you forget you have on, take the 4mm. Add a tourmaline worry stone for the pocket, and see protection and warding.
Round 6mm beads on a stretch cord, sized to fit most adult wrists. The 6mm has weight to it. You feel it against the wrist through the day, which is the whole argument for the larger bead. Natural stone, so the color and marking run differently through every bead.
