Mystic Mornings Yoga
Description
Class times are on the calendar.
Fifty minutes of yin and gentle yoga with an intention attached. Eighteen dollars. The point is to get out from under grind culture for an hour on a weekend morning, and the pacing is built for that rather than for anybody's fitness goals.
Yin is the long-hold half. You settle into a shape and stay there for minutes at a time, propped with bolsters, blocks and blankets so your muscles do not have to hold you up, and you let time and gravity do the work instead of effort. It is slower than people expect and harder than it looks, and long holds have a way of bringing things up; people cry in yin more often than you would guess, and nobody tells you that in advance.
Between the yin poses there is gentle and somatic movement, paced deliberately, with options throughout so you can size the class to whatever energy you actually turned up with rather than the energy you meant to have.
Each week runs on a different theme: moon cycles, the elements, the chakras, the wheel of the year. So the class you come to in February is not the class you came to in October.
Good to Know
50 minutes. Please bring your own mat. Props are provided. No experience needed and no fitness level assumed. All sessions are in person at Wild Raven's Nest, 602 N Rockwall Ave in Terrell.
This is a yoga class, not physical therapy. If you are pregnant, post-surgical or working around an injury, check with your doctor first and tell the teacher before class so the options offered actually suit you.
Try It With
A private session if you want the practice built around your body specifically, or Reiki if you want the same slowing down without doing anything at all. Your nervous system does not speak English is the piece that explains why this works. More on the wheel of the year.
