Citronella Oil | Bright Grass & Outdoor Ritual
Description
Fresh, grassy and lemony with a sharper, slightly waxy edge. Instantly recognizable as the smell of a summer porch.
What It Is
Cymbopogon winterianus, steam distilled from the grass. The Java type, which is the more citronellal-rich of the two commercial varieties. A close relative of lemongrass and of the palmarosa grasses.
In the Craft
Its folk associations run to clearing and to warding off unwanted attention, which fits its outdoor history. Practical for open-air ritual, where its strength is an advantage rather than a fault.
How to Work With It
- Diffuse or burn outdoors for open-air ritual.
- Add to a floor wash for a bright, cutting clean.
- Anoint a candle for clearing unwanted attention.
- Blend with lemongrass and basil for an outdoor working mix.
Blends well with: lemongrass, lemon, cedarwood, rosemary, peppermint

Why We Carry It
