Blood Orange Oil | Warmer, Deeper Citrus

Citrus with a red edge to it, faintly like raspberry behind the orange. Richer and less sharp than sweet orange.

What It Is
Citrus sinensis, the blood orange cultivar, cold pressed from the peel. The red pigment is anthocyanin, the same compound that colors berries, which develops when the fruit ripens through cold nights.

In the Craft
Worked like sweet orange for joy and prosperity, but with a warmer, more sensual register that suits love and attraction work as well. A good choice for a Yule or Samhain blend where plain orange would be too cheerful.

How to Work With It

• Diffuse for warmth in a room in the colder half of the year.
• Anoint a candle for prosperity with a bit of heat in it.
• Blend with clove and cinnamon for a winter ritual scent.
• Use in attraction work where you want warmth rather than sweetness.

Blends well with: clove, cinnamon, ylang ylang, patchouli, frankincense

Keep treated skin out of direct sun for 12 hours.

Blood orange runs darker and slightly berried compared to sweet orange. Worth the small premium if you want the citrus lift with more body to it.
