Description
A rough moldavite set into the centre of a Flower of Life mandala. The stone was cut flat on the underside so it would seat properly and left rough on top, which is the right decision: the etched surface is the part that shows the piece is real.
The Flower of Life is nineteen overlapping circles on a hexagonal grid, and the reason it turns up everywhere is that it is what you get automatically when you pack circles as tightly as they will go. The oldest datable example is Assyrian, cut into a palace threshold slab from the reign of Ashurbanipal in the seventh century BC. The famous red ochre versions at the Osireion in Abydos are graffiti, and they are very much later than the Egyptian temple they are drawn on.
Setting a piece of impact glass at the centre of a pattern about how things fit together is a good joke and a good design at the same time.

- Trace the pattern with a fingertip. It was drawn to be followed.
- Wear moldavite in shorter stretches at first than you would other stones.
- Keep the certificate with the piece.
