Description
Howlite beads wire wrapped by hand around the wrist, finished with a dragon charm. Wrapped rather than strung, so it holds its shape instead of hanging loose.
Howlite is a borate mineral found in a Nova Scotia gypsum quarry in 1868 by Henry How, and named for him. Soft, white, veined gray, and porous enough to take dye all the way through, which is why fake turquoise used to be dyed howlite before dyed magnesite took that job over. Undyed, it is the stone people reach for when the problem is their own commentary rather than anyone else's.
That is the specific job. Howlite is worked for the inner critic: the voice that is harsher with you than you would ever be with a friend. It does not argue with it. It slows it down enough that you can hear how unreasonable it is being.
How to Wear It
- Wear it on the days the commentary is loud.
- Wire wrapped, so ease it on rather than forcing it.
- Howlite is soft and porous. Keep it out of long soaks.

Made Here, by Hand
Wild Raven pieces are made one at a time in the shop in Terrell, Texas, and no two come out the same. Every piece is cleared with Reiki before it leaves and arrives ready for you to set your own intention. More about the shop and the people in it, and about what Reiki actually is.
