Why It’s Not as “Out There” as You Think
Reiki is an energy healing practice used in over 800 hospitals across the U.S., including Johns Hopkins and the Cleveland Clinic. Why? Because it works. Reiki isn’t a belief system; it’s a non-denominational, hands-on method of calming the nervous system and restoring energetic balance. You don’t have to be “spiritual” to benefit from it, and you definitely don’t have to be a guru to learn it. Reiki is something anyone can do, and learning to work with your energy might be one of the most life-shifting things you ever do.
What makes Reiki different is its gentleness. There’s no pressure to fix, diagnose, or understand every detail. The healing happens through a subtle but powerful current of life-force energy. People often describe Reiki as feeling warm, light, or calming. Others notice emotional release, better sleep, or a sense of clarity in the days that follow. There’s no right or wrong experience, and that’s part of the beauty.
In a world where we’re constantly overstimulated and overextended, Reiki invites stillness. It allows your body to drop out of fight-or-flight and into a deeper parasympathetic state where real healing can begin. And whether you’re receiving it or learning to offer it, Reiki is a reminder that wellness doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.

So, what is energy healing?
At its core, energy healing is the practice of working with the body’s subtle energy systems to restore flow, balance, and vitality. You know those days when everything feels heavy, unmotivated, or off for no obvious reason? That’s often blocked energy. And it doesn’t just show up in your thoughts; it can impact your digestion, your mood, your ability to focus, even your immune response.
Energetic imbalances can look like:
Brain fog or chronic fatigue that doesn’t resolve with rest
Feeling emotionally flat or easily overwhelmed
Physical tension or discomfort without a clear medical cause
Looping thoughts or anxious restlessness
Disconnection from joy, creativity, or purpose
A general feeling of being “off” without knowing why
Reiki, one of the most widely practiced forms of energy healing, offers a gentle way to move that stagnant energy without forcing, fixing, or overthinking. It allows the body to recalibrate, the mind to quiet, and your deeper awareness to rise to the surface.
But is it Reiki legit?
Short answer: Yes.
And not just because practitioners say so—because research and real-world results back it up.
Reiki has been practiced for over a century and is now integrated into hospitals and wellness centers around the world, including institutions like Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson, and the Cleveland Clinic. It’s widely recognized to reduce stress, calm the nervous system, and support the body’s natural healing processes.
Here’s what studies show Reiki can do:
Reduce anxiety and stress levels
Improve sleep quality
Support chronic pain management
Lower heart rate and blood pressure
Enhance emotional well-being and relaxation
A study published in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that Reiki significantly decreased anxiety and increased heart rate variability —a key marker of nervous system resilience. In short, Reiki helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system, shifting your body from fight-or-flight into rest-and-repair mode.
Even if science can’t explain every mechanism behind Reiki, the impact is clear. Clients often report feeling lighter, clearer, calmer, and more grounded after just one session.

Energy work isn’t just for “spiritual” people
Blocked energy doesn’t always show up as a chakra out of whack.
Sometimes, it looks like:
Snapping at your partner over something small
Feeling disconnected from your purpose or passions
Operating on autopilot, unsure of what you actually feel
Waking up already tired, no matter how much you slept
Wondering when you last truly felt like yourself
You don’t have to be into crystals or astrology to benefit from Reiki. You just have to be human.
Reiki is not a quick fix or spiritual bypass, but a way to come back to yourself. A way to soften the armor, move the stuckness, and remember that you're not broken, just disconnected. And connection is something we can rebuild.

What exactly is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on energy healing technique that supports the body’s natural ability to relax, restore, and rebalance. It’s non-religious, intuitive, and safe for anyone to learn or receive.
Do I need to be “spiritual” to take this class?
Not at all. You don’t need to believe in energy, be sensitive to it, or have prior experience. Reiki meets you where you are — no matter your background, belief system, or level of sensitivity.
What happens during Reiki I training?
You’ll receive a Reiki I attunement, learn the history and principles of Reiki, and practice giving and receiving energy sessions in a supportive, grounded environment. You’ll leave with the tools to confidently offer Reiki to yourself and others.
Is Reiki certification recognized?
Yes. Upon completion of Reiki I, you’ll receive a certificate of training that follows the traditional Usui Reiki lineage. Many practitioners go on to offer Reiki professionally, while others use it as a personal or spiritual tool.
What should I bring or prepare for class?
Come as you are. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle, a notebook, and anything sacred or meaningful you'd like nearby (a crystal, journal, or small altar item). All class materials will be provided.
Do you offer Reiki II or advanced training?
Yes. Once you've completed Reiki I and feel ready to deepen your practice, you’re welcome to continue on with Reiki II and eventually Reiki Master training. We’ll talk about what’s next during class or you can always reach out with questions.
