Description
A crescent carved from banded fluorite on an adjustable cord, with purple, green and clear zones running through it. The bands are growth layers: the crystal picked up different trace elements at different points while it formed, and each one set a different color.
Fluorite is where the word fluorescence comes from. George Stokes named the effect after the mineral in 1852, because fluorite was the first material anyone studied glowing under ultraviolet light. It is also soft, a four on the Mohs scale, which is why a fluorite pendant needs more care than a quartz one.
Practitioners work it for order. Fluorite is the study stone, the one reached for when there is too much information and not enough structure, and the banding is the standing argument for it: several different things in one object, and none of them arguing.

- Fluorite is soft. Keep it off keys and out of a bag with anything hard in it.
