Description

A sandtimer set into a cold cast resin pharaoh, 4.25 inches wide by 2.5 deep by 6.75 tall. Cold cast means metal or stone powder mixed into the resin, which is why it has real weight in the hand and a surface closer to bronze than to plastic.

The reason to own one in 2026 is the reason nobody thinks of: it times things without being a phone. Set a timer on a phone and you have opened the phone, and you now have the phone in the room with you for the next ten minutes. Turn a sandtimer over and the only thing in the room is sand.

Use it for the obvious things. Sitting. A candle you have promised yourself you will watch rather than leave. The steep on a cup of tea. A tarot spread you want to look at for a fixed stretch before you start talking yourself into a reading. Anything where the point is to stop at a defined moment rather than when you get bored.

The Egyptians, as it happens, did not use sand. They ran water clocks, and there is one from the reign of Amenhotep III, a stone vessel that empties through a hole at the base with hour marks scaled for different months of the year. The hourglass does not show up in Europe until Ambrogio Lorenzetti painted one in 1338, which is nearly three thousand years later. So the pharaoh is decoration, not history, and it is a handsome piece of decoration.

Good to Know

4.25 inches wide by 2.5 deep by 6.75 tall. Cold cast resin. We have not timed the run, so if the exact interval matters to you, ask and we will turn one over and count. Keep it off the edge of a shelf; resin chips on tile.

Try It With

The mini Bastet or the Maat Goddess plaque if the Egyptian shelf is a theme rather than an accident. Awakening Osiris to read while it runs. More in home decor.
