Calligraphy Feather Dip Pen Set in wooden box

A real white goose feather quill with three interchangeable nibs, a bottle of ink, a wooden rocker blotter and a calligraphy instruction scroll, laid into a wooden keepsake box. Made in Italy.

The blotter is the piece that tells you this set was designed by someone who actually writes. A rocker blotter is a curved block of wood with blotting paper on the underside, and you rock it over wet ink to lift the excess, which is the point: anything that slides across wet ink smears it. It is the difference between a finished page and a smudged one, and almost nobody includes it.

The feather is real goose, not a synthetic reproduction.

A dip pen is not a fountain pen. There is no cartridge and no reservoir. You dip, you write four or five words, you dip again. That rhythm is the whole appeal for some people and the whole problem for others, so it is worth knowing which you are before you buy.

Use It For
