Brass Feather Nib Pen Set: Black

A real feather, dyed, fitted with a brass dip nib. Made in Italy and boxed with a bottle of Italian ink and three additional nibs.

Black is the one that disappears into a desk and lets the writing be the loud part. If you are buying this for ritual work rather than for the shelf, it is the one to take.

Freund Mayer has been putting these sets together in Italy for a long time, and it shows in the parts you do not see in the photograph: the nibs seat properly, the ink is made for dip pens rather than fountain pens, and the box is built to be kept rather than thrown out.

What You Are Getting

The pen, a bottle of Italian ink, and three spare nibs, in a printed gift box with a window cover measuring roughly 11 by 5.3 by 1.9 inches. No stand is included, so if you want it standing on a desk rather than lying in the box you will need one.
The feather is real and dyed, not a molded reproduction, so no two are identical and the barbs will sit slightly differently on yours than in the photograph.

A dip pen is not a fountain pen. There is no cartridge and no reservoir. You dip, you write four or five words, you dip again. That rhythm is the whole appeal for some people and the whole problem for others, so it is worth knowing which you are before you buy.

Use It For

Ritual writing, petitions, correspondence, and journaling where the act of writing is part of the point. Three nibs give you three line weights out of one pen, which is more range than most people expect from a set at this price.
