Description
Howlite is white with gray veining that looks drawn on, and the pattern is calcite and clay filling cracks in a borate nodule. It came out of a Nova Scotia gypsum quarry in 1868, found by Henry How, who was a chemist and a geologist and got the mineral named after him.
Its correspondence is patience, which is a less popular ask than calm and a more useful one. Calm is a state. Patience is a capacity, and howlite is worked to build it: for waiting out a process, for holding your tongue, for the stretch between doing the work and hearing back.
The 6mm beads are large enough to run through your fingers one at a time, which turns the bracelet into something closer to a mala than an ornament. That is the reason to take this size in this stone.
