An orange moth with lunar phases, flowers and a hand, printed on canvas. The moth is the right animal for a moon print, and the reason is mechanical rather than romantic. High speed filming published in 2024 settled a long argument about it: flying insects keep their backs turned toward the brightest thing in the sky, which is how you stay upright when the sky is the sky. Put a lamp underneath them and that same reflex tips them into an endless orbit around it.

So the moth is not drawn to flame. It is trying to keep its back to the moon and getting the wrong moon. That is a better symbol than the one it usually gets given.
