Winged Isis Patina
Description
Isis with her wings spread, hand painted with a patina finish. About six and a quarter inches across and five and a quarter tall.
The wings are the whole point and almost nobody explains them. After Set killed Osiris, Isis took the form of a kite, a bird of prey, and beat her wings over his body to put the breath back into him. The outspread wings carry that moment with them: not decoration, but the bird-form she took to restart a heart, and the shelter she has thrown over the dead ever since. You will see the same wings on coffins, on shrines and over living kings.
She is the goddess of magic because she is the one who did the impossible thing by knowing the right words. Work with her for healing, for protection of children, and for anything you are trying to put back together.
Good to Know
Cast gypsum, hand painted with a patina finish, so the colors vary noticeably from piece to piece. About 6.25 inches wide by 2.5 deep by 5.25 tall. Gypsum has real weight to it and it is brittle, so it will chip on a hard floor.
Handmade in Egypt, so each one varies a little in paint and finish, and yours will not be identical to the photograph. Packaged in a decorative hieroglyphic box with an information card, which makes it a reasonable gift with no extra wrapping.
