The Tower is the card people flinch at, and the older French name for it is worse: La Maison Dieu, the house of God. Lightning strikes the top, the crown blows off, and two figures fall head first out of the windows.
The crown is the part worth noticing. It is not the building that gets hit first, it is the thing that was put on top of it, and it does not go back on. The tower in the picture is standing on a bare rock with nothing else around it, which is a fair description of anything built too high on too little.
It gets pulled for sudden collapse and for the moment a false structure fails. Readers who like it point out that nothing in the picture is being destroyed that was sound, which is true and not much comfort at the time.
