Smoky Quartz Standing Point | Grounding & Focus
Description
Description
A smoky quartz point cut flat at the base so it stands on its own. That matters more than it sounds: a point that stands is a point you can aim and leave, which is what makes it useful on an altar, at a desk, or at a corner of a grid.
Smoky quartz gets its color from radiation. Trace aluminum sits in the quartz lattice, natural radioactivity in the surrounding rock knocks electrons loose over geological time, and the damaged sites absorb light in a way that reads brown. Heat it and the color goes. It is the national gem of Scotland, where it is called cairngorm.
The working reputation is grounding with a direction to it. The traditional description is that smoky quartz takes a thing and puts it into the earth rather than holding onto it, which is why people reach for it at the end of something rather than the start.
