Zeusite comes out of Brazil under a trade name, a banded stone in the chalcedony family, and it is one of the best plain holding stones on the shelf. It comes in soft grays and blues, with some pieces running to pink, red and orange, and the banding gives every piece its own pattern. It feels good in the hand and looks good on a desk.

Chalcedony is the family agate and carnelian belong to, and a banded stone like this is worked the same way: for steadiness, for patience with a slow process, and for keeping your hands busy while your head sorts itself out.
