Vetiver Oil | Deep Roots & Steady Nerve

Smoky, earthy and faintly sweet, like wet soil and old rope. Thick in the bottle and slow to move. One of the most persistent scents in perfumery.

What It Is
Chrysopogon zizanioides, steam distilled from the roots of a tall grass. In India it is called khus, and woven root screens were hung in doorways and wetted to cool a room.

In the Craft
Vetiver is the oil of the root chakra and of staying put. It is worked for grounding that goes deeper than a stone in a pocket, for protection, and for anyone whose problem is that they are running on nerves.

How to Work With It

• Dilute and anoint the soles of the feet before ritual or travel.
• Diffuse when you cannot settle and nothing else is working.
• Add a drop to a protection or grounding candle.
• Wear it during a season of upheaval, daily, in the same place.

Blends well with: patchouli, cedarwood, sandalwood, ylang ylang, lavender
