What It Is
Melaleuca alternifolia, steam distilled from the leaf. Native to a small area of New South Wales, Australia, where the Bundjalung people used the crushed leaves long before Europeans named it.

In the Craft
In modern practice it is a clearing oil, used where the atmosphere feels contaminated rather than merely heavy. Its bluntness suits a working you want to be quick and thorough rather than gentle.

How to Work With It

• Add to a floor wash for a hard, unsentimental clean.
• Diffuse briefly to reset a room that has gone wrong.
• Anoint a candle for uncrossing work.
• Blend with lemon and eucalyptus for the sharpest clearing mix here.
