What It Is
Salvia sclarea, steam distilled from the flowering tops. Certified organic. The name comes from the Latin clarus, clear, and the English clary is a worn-down version of clear eye, after the medieval use of its seeds in eye washes.

In the Craft
That etymology is why clary sage became the oil of second sight. It is worked before divination, for dream recall, and for the kind of clarity that is about perception rather than thinking. Reach for it when you want to see rather than to concentrate.

How to Work With It

• Diffuse before a reading, scrying or dream work.
• Dilute and anoint the third eye before divination.
• Add a drop to a candle for a working about seeing clearly.
• Keep it by the bed and note what you dream.
