What It Is
Piper nigrum, steam distilled from the dried unripe fruit. The same peppercorn that made European fortunes and drove the spice trade.

In the Craft
Hot spices are command spices. Black pepper is worked in compelling, court case and reversal formulas, and it is scattered or dressed onto a candle when a working needs urgency. It is also protective, used to drive off what will not leave politely.

How to Work With It

• Anoint a candle for command, court case or reversal work.
• Add a drop to a protection blend when you want it to bite.
• Diffuse sparingly for courage before something confrontational.
• Blend with clove for the hottest combination we stock.
