Description
Opalite is man made glass and we say so on every listing that carries it, because the name borrows from opal and the two are unrelated. What it does have is a genuine optical effect: hold a bead against a light and it goes warm amber, hold it against something dark and it goes cool blue. That is Rayleigh scattering, the same physics that makes the sky blue and the sunset orange, happening inside a bead.
It is used mostly for dream work and for gentleness. Not protection, not power. Opalite is what people put beside the bed.
At 6mm the color shift is easy to see, which matters on a piece whose whole appeal is what it does in changing light. The 4mm is subtler in every sense.
How to Wear It
- Keep it on the nightstand, or wear it to sleep if you do dream work.
- Hold it up to a lamp and then against your sleeve. Watch it change.
