Description
A round labradorite cabochon in sterling, an inch and a half, made to be worn rather than admired on a shelf. The round cut is the right one for this stone because labradorescence lives at a particular angle and a curved surface gives you more chances to hit it.
Labradorite was described in 1770 from the Isle of Paul off Labrador, and the effect is named after the place. The stone separated internally as it cooled into fine alternating layers of two feldspars, and light bouncing between those layers interferes with itself. How thick the layers are decides whether you get blue, gold or green.
It is worked as a shield that is also a window. Labradorite is what people wear when they need to stay perceptive without being permeable, which is the actual problem most people mean when they say they are sensitive.
How to Wear It
- Turn it in the light before you go into a room. The flash is a workable anchor.
- Wear it out, in crowds, at work. The name is not decorative.
- Good for readers, healers and anyone who has to hold a room.
Wear It With

Sterling silver setting. Natural stone, so color, pattern and the exact shape of the piece vary, and the one you receive will not be identical to the photograph. Approximately 1 1/2 inches. The flash sits at one angle, so a piece can look plain until you move it.
