Description
Red jasper is opaque microcrystalline quartz stained through with iron oxide, which is where the brick color comes from. Jasper as a family can carry up to twenty percent foreign material, and that impurity is the whole appeal: every band, spot and picture in a jasper is something else that got caught in the silica while it formed. In the red kind, what got caught is rust.
It carries the most specific instruction of any stone in this shop. Spell 156 of the Egyptian Book of the Dead calls for a tyet, the knot of Isis, cut from red jasper and set at the throat of the dead so the goddess would hold her protection over them. That is not an association somebody assigned to the stone later. It is written down.
The rest of the reputation is endurance rather than power. Red jasper is the supply stone, the one worked for finishing, for staying, and for a nervous system that wants something dull and reliable to hold onto.
How to Wear It
- Wear it on the long stretch rather than the big day.
- Good for anyone whose work is repetitive and still has to stay careful.
- Stack it under a brighter stone. Jasper is a base.
Wear It With
See tumbled red jasper, the Red Jasper rune set and the Dalmatian jasper bracelet.
Round beads on a stretch cord, sized to fit most adult wrists. Natural stone, so the color and marking run differently through every bead.
