The feathers come from naturally shed plumes and are dyed with organic dye. Peacock is the one feather that does not need help to look like something: the eye at the top of the plume does the work, and every feather sets it slightly differently.

What You Are Getting

One peacock quill pen with a gold-color brass nib, on a hanging card. It takes ordinary writing or dipping ink, which is sold separately.

This is a dip pen, not a ballpoint. The vendor name for the range covers both a nib version and a ballpoint version, and this is the nib one. There is no ballpoint cartridge in it and the tip does not swap over. If you want a feather that writes without an inkwell, the Quill Ballpoint Pens and Stands are the ones to look at.

Use It For

Signing things. Altar work where the pen is part of the setting rather than hidden in a hand. Peacock carries a long association with watchfulness and with Juno, and more than one tradition treats the eye on the feather as a guard against being overlooked, which is a reasonable thing to have sitting over a Book of Shadows.
