Deep Selenite Smudge Bowl (3 in.)
Description
Selenite is the one stone that does not need charging, which is why every crystal collection eventually ends up with a piece of it acting as the staging area for everything else. Set your stones in this bowl overnight and let it do the housekeeping. It is named for Selene, the Greek moon goddess, and the resemblance is obvious the moment you hold it up to light.
Carved deep enough to actually hold what you put in it. Use it as a burn dish for loose herbs, resins, and wood, where the selenite is traditionally said to sharpen the cleansing rather than just contain the ash. Or use it as the resting place for rings, pendulums, and tumbled stones at the end of the day.
Ways to Use It
Rest crystals in it overnight after a heavy reading or a hard week. Burn loose herbs or resin in it with a charcoal disc underneath and a layer of sand or ash to protect the stone from direct heat. Keep it on the altar as the place where small tools land so they are never scattered. Set a piece of jewelry you use for working in it between uses.
Try It With
Burn in it with Three Kings Charcoal Disks and Frankincense Resin Incense, which is what a bowl this deep is really for. Add a 3 inch Selenite Wand to sweep the air above it. More in our resin incense collection.
Good to Know
3 inches, made in Morocco. Ethically mined and polished at a family-owned operation with low-impact methods and good working conditions for the miners and finishers. Natural stone, so translucency and banding vary.
Safety
Selenite is soft and water-soluble. Never wash it or leave it anywhere damp, since it will pit and dissolve. Dust with a dry cloth. If you burn in it, always use a charcoal disc on a bed of sand or ash rather than directly on the stone.
