Against Evil Aromatic Jar Candle

This is the candle you light when something has been following you. Against Evil is traditional reversal work, meant to turn ill will back the way it came rather than absorb it.

What Is On It

The wax is dressed with black snake root and red pepper. Black snake root is a long-standing ingredient in American folk magic for breaking hostile work and driving off what has attached itself. Red pepper adds heat and speed, which is the whole point of a reversal: you want the return trip fast. The skull imagery and printed prayer on the glass give you a focal point while you work.

How to Work It

Cleanse yourself and the room before you light it. Say plainly what you are sending back, and be specific rather than sweeping. Burn it in a safe place where you can watch it, and pay attention to how it burns, since practitioners read a smoked jar or an uneven pool as information about how much resistance the work is meeting. When it is finished, dispose of the remains off your property.

Safety

Burns approximately three and a half days. Dressed candles carry botanical material on the wax and can flare, so keep the flame in sight and away from drafts, curtains, children, and pets. Set on a heat-safe surface. Discontinue use when roughly half an inch of wax remains.
