Description

This incense is strictly derived from natural resins, gums, herbs, and other botanicals.

Copal resin incense has been revered for centuries, particularly by the Indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica, including the Maya and Aztec civilizations. Derived from the sap of the copal tree, this resin has been considered sacred and was commonly used in spiritual ceremonies, offerings to deities, and purification rituals. The word “copal” itself comes from the Nahuatl word copalli, meaning “incense.”

When burned, copal emits a clean, woody aroma with hints of citrus, which is uplifting and purifying. It is often used in spiritual practices to cleanse spaces, banish negative energies, and elevate spiritual awareness. Many practitioners find copal useful for deep meditation, as it helps clear mental blockages and promotes focus. It's an ideal incense for rituals involving transformation, new beginnings, or connecting to ancestral energies.

Bring the sacred tradition of copal into your space to cleanse, renew, and create a bridge to the spiritual world.

How to Burn It

Loose resin does not light on its own. Set a charcoal disc in a censer on sand or ash, light the edge until it sparks across, wait for it to ash over gray, then lay a small pinch of resin on top. Less than you think. Resin smokes hard, and a pinch will scent a room for twenty minutes.

Try It With

Three Kings Charcoal Disks to burn it. Pair with Palo Santo Essential Oil, which comes from the same forests. More in cleansing and purification.

Safety

Loose resin needs a charcoal disc in a heat safe censer, ideally on a bed of sand or ash so the vessel does not crack. Charcoal runs far hotter than a stick, so never move the burner once lit and keep it well away from children, pets, and anything flammable. Ventilate the room.
