A single glass nazar on a ring. Nothing else. This is the version people who grew up with these actually carry.

The bead is made by pulling molten glass and laying rings of color on in order, and the workshops that still do it sit around İzmir on the Turkish coast, working at wood fired furnaces because gas does not hold the color the same way. Two people work each furnace. The craft is on the Turkish national inventory of intangible heritage, which gives you some idea how thin the ground has got.

Written complaints about the evil eye go back to Mesopotamian tablets, and Plutarch wrote a whole discussion of whether it was real. Almost nothing in a shop like ours has a longer paper trail than this bead.
