Description
Prehnite holds a small distinction: it was the first mineral in history named after a person. Colonel Hendrik von Prehn brought it back from the Cape of Good Hope and it was described in 1788, setting the naming convention mineralogy has used ever since.
It grows in botryoidal masses, meaning bunched rounded lobes like a cluster of grapes, and the pale green is faintly translucent, so a bead lit from behind glows a little.
Its reputation among practitioners is unusual. It is called the stone that heals the healer, and it turns up in the kits of people who spend their working lives holding other people's difficulty. Worked for heart level rest and for a kind of foresight that is closer to preparedness than prediction.
