Seven inch rolled tapers dressed in herbs, scented with apple spice and clove. Sold as a pair.

Rolled, not dipped or poured. A rolled candle is made from a sheet of wax wound around the wick, so it has a texture you can feel and it burns a little differently from a molded taper.

Apple is the right scent for this and not an arbitrary autumn choice. The apple is the otherworld fruit across the Celtic material, the silver branch in Echtra Condla and the orchards of Emain Ablach, and it is the fruit under every Halloween divination game we still play without thinking about it.

Burn them at the dumb supper, at an ancestor altar, or for grief that the season has brought back up.

Two rolled seven inch tapers, dressed with herbs on the outside of the wax. Color and herb placement run differently from batch to batch.

Safety

Dressed candles carry dry herb on the wax and they can flare. Keep the flame in sight, set the candle in a holder that catches drip on a heatproof surface, and keep it away from drafts, curtains, children and pets. Trim the wick to a quarter inch before each burn. Never leave it burning unattended.
A seven inch taper is tall enough to need a holder with real weight in the base. Do not stand it in something it can pull over.
