Peacock Ore
Description
Peacock ore is the stone that looks like an oil slick caught in rock: bronze underneath, blue, purple and gold across the top, and no two pieces color the same way. People pick it up because it is gorgeous and keep it because it is the piece on the desk that argues with a flat mood, the one for burnout and creative blocks.
The color is a thin oxidised surface on bornite, or on chalcopyrite that has been acid treated to bring up the same effect, and under the color the stone is a plain metallic bronze or brass. Turn a piece under a lamp and the colors shift. Practitioners put it with Jupiter and fire, with Hephaestus at his forge, and with the solar plexus, third eye and crown: a stone for turning heavy into bright.
How to Work It
Hold it in meditation when you want to lift out of a rut, or set it where you work so there is something shining in your line of sight. It belongs in grids for confidence and fresh starts, in aura clearing, or laid on the solar plexus to get your drive going again.
Try It With
See rough natural pyrite, its close relative with a very different shine, and browse raw crystals.
Good to Know
Each order is one stone, picked by hand, so yours will not match the photograph exactly. Keep it dry and handle it gently, since the color is a surface layer.
