Marble Mortar Pestle 5"
Description
Five inches of solid marble, and the weight is what you are paying for. Heavy stone does the grinding for you. You lean in, the bowl stays put, and material that would fight a lighter tool gives way without you working for it. Root, bark, whole spice, the things worth having a real mortar for.
Every set comes out of the stone differently. The veining, the color, the way light moves across the surface, none of it repeats. Yours will be its own, which is what happens when a thing is cut from real stone instead of poured into a mold.
Details
Five inches across. Natural marble, roughly five pounds, with a matching pestle.
Ways to Use It
Grind your own blends from whole material rather than buying them already powdered, which is where the potency lives. Break dried root into something you can measure. Work bark down to a usable grind. Crush seed and whole spice for incense you mix yourself. It is heavy enough that one hand can hold the bowl while the other does the work.
Try It With
Good company for Birch Bark and Burdock Root. If you want something lighter that wipes clean between herbs, the Stainless Steel Mortar & Pestle is the other end of the shelf. More in the Ritual Herbs.
Care
Warm water and a stiff brush, then air dry. Grind in a circle rather than striking straight down, and keep acidic material such as citrus peel and hibiscus in a different bowl.
