Hades Herbal Intention 6-inch Candles

Herbal dressed tapers for Hades, scented with mint and musk.

Hades is not the devil and the Greeks did not treat him as one. He is the one who keeps the order: the dead stay dead, the arrangement holds, and nobody talks him out of it. His other name, Plouton, comes from ploutos, wealth, the same word that gives us plutocrat, because everything that grows and everything valuable comes out of the ground he owns.

The mint is not decoration either. Minthe was a nymph of his who got turned into the plant, which is why mint belongs on this candle and not on a different one.

Work with him for grief, for inheritance and endings, and for anything that has to be accepted rather than negotiated.

What You Are Getting

Six inch taper, about five hours of burn in still air. Sold as a pair. These are dressed with herbs on the outside of the wax, so the color runs differently from batch to batch and yours will not match the photograph exactly.

Safety

Dressed candles carry dry herb on the wax and they can flare. Keep the flame in sight, set the candle in a holder that catches drip on a heatproof surface, and keep it away from drafts, curtains, children and pets. Trim the wick to a quarter inch before each burn. Never leave it burning unattended.
