Zeusite Raw

Description
Zeusite is a trade name rather than a mineral name, and we would rather say so than invent a mineralogy for it. It comes out of Brazil in a wide color range, gray through blue, red, pink and orange, and it reads as a banded chalcedony in the hand.

Trade names are common in this business and they are not automatically a problem. Names like dragon stone, ocean jasper and peacock ore are all trade names too, and all three describe real, consistent material. What matters is that a shop tells you which is which, so you know when you are buying a mineral species and when you are buying a look.

Worked by practitioners the way any banded stone is worked: for steadiness, for patience with a process, and because it is good to hold. If you want a stone with a documented correspondence behind it, several others on this shelf will serve you better, and we would rather point you at one than dress this one up.
