Description
Lava stone is basalt, and the holes all through it are frozen gas bubbles. Molten rock under pressure holds dissolved gas the way a sealed bottle does. When it reaches the surface the pressure drops, the gas comes out of solution, and the rock hardens around the bubbles before they can escape. The porosity people buy it for is a record of that moment.
Those pores are what make it work as diffuser jewelry. Put a drop of oil on a bead and the stone holds it, letting the scent go slowly over a day or two.
Worked as fire and earth at once: the element in its most literal form, cooled and made wearable. It gets reached for around beginnings that require destroying something first.

- One drop of oil per bead is plenty. More than that and it will mark your sleeve.
- Refresh the oil every day or two as the scent goes.
